I called on 1-15-16 around 11:00 am for geek squad tech support at our Hickory, NC, Best Buy store. The person who answered the phone tried to help me, but I was unable to find the buttons he was telling me to push.

So he made an appointment for a geek squad tech to come out and fix the computer for me. He said the call would cost $297.00 and asked for my credit card number which I stupidly gave to him. Later, I was able on my own to find the buttons and clear up my problem on the computer. I called back to cancel the appointment and was told there is a cancellation fee of $50.00.

Since the store already had taken my credit card number, I figured they would change the amount charged to my card. Later in the day, I realized we have a geek squad service contract which we purchased when we purchased our Apple computer in March 2015 that should cover anY SERVICES for one year. When I called the geek squad at Best Buy in Hickory, they had no record of my making an appointment or even talking with anyone. I had used the same phone number of 828-231-**** every time I called.

Then I called the Best Buy corporate offices to ask whether they had any record. They had none and they told me the charge for a geek squad repair was only $249.00 and there is no charge for canceling an appointment if it is done within 24 hours which mine was. Finally I called my bank to see if a charge of $297 or $50 was on my credit card record. There was a charge for $297 on it.

The bank is going to try to have the charge removed. Since then today, I have again called the local Best Buy store in Hickory, NC and the corporate offices for the Geek Squad to see if they ever found any record of my calls. Neither one had a record. It concerns me that someone identifying themselves as a geek squad employee would take down my credit card number, charge me for $297 on it and then have no record of the charge or the phone calls.

I feel like someone in the Hickory Best Buy took my credit card number and plans to use it for themselves. Someone needs to check into the Hickory Best Buy store and the honesty of their geek squad staff.

I know I will never use Best Buy again. Joanne Sigmon

You might wish to tell the bank that now you suspect fraud. They can verify the good transactions and move the good ones over to a new card and number, thereby deleting all Geek Squad charges. Good luck.
